Kelpie Plumbing is a licensed plumber and gas fitter based in Kempsey, NSW, servicing homes and businesses across the Macleay, Hastings, and Nambucca regions. Over 200 completed projects ranging from emergency repairs to full drainage installations.

Before coming to us, Kelpie Plumbing had no website. All leads came through word of mouth and a Facebook page. That works until it doesn’t. When someone searches “plumber Kempsey” at 11pm with a burst pipe, they’re not scrolling Facebook. They’re clicking the first result on Google.

We built Kelpie Plumbing a lead-generating website with click-to-call on every page, a free quote form, and local SEO targeting Kempsey and surrounding regions. Looking for something similar? See our plumber website design page or view pricing.

The challenge

Building a website for a sole-operator plumber is a different job to building one for a multi-location practice. The site doesn’t need 35 pages. It needs a single well-structured page that loads fast and converts visitors into phone calls.

The specific challenges for Kelpie Plumbing:

  • No existing web presence. Starting from scratch with zero domain authority.
  • Competing against established plumbing businesses in Kempsey and surrounding areas that already rank in Google.
  • The site needed to work for emergency searches. Someone with a burst pipe at midnight doesn’t browse. They call the first number they see.
  • Plumbing is a trust-based trade. You’re letting someone into your home. The site needed to look professional and show the licence number upfront.

The goal was simple: when someone in the Macleay Valley searches for a plumber, Kelpie Plumbing shows up and looks like the obvious choice.

What we built

Kelpie Plumbing website homepage on desktop

Homepage built for conversions

The homepage leads with “24/7 Emergency Plumber & Gas Fitter in Kempsey” and a phone number in the top right corner. No ambiguity about what the business does, where it operates, or how to get in touch.

Below the hero section, four trust badges: Licensed & Insured (with the licence number), Free Quotes, Local Service, and Any Sized Job. These answer the questions a homeowner has before they even scroll.

Click-to-call everywhere

The phone number (0450 447 411) is in the header, the hero section, and the footer. On mobile, every instance is a click-to-call link. For a plumber website, the phone call is the conversion. Everything else is just convincing someone to make it.

The “Get a Free Quote” button sits below the headline on every page. For non-emergency enquiries, the contact form collects the basics: name, number, what they need done. No unnecessary fields.

Services and local SEO

Fifteen services are listed on the single page, from CCTV drain inspections to hot water tank replacements. Each has a photo and a clear description of what the work involves. Enough detail for Google to understand what the business does, without overwhelming a homeowner who just needs a blocked drain fixed.

We also added a “Why Choose Us” comparison table: Kelpie Plumbing on one side, “Other Plumbers” on the other. It’s a simple conversion tool that puts the key differentiators (licensed, local, free quotes, no call-out fee) side by side. Tables like this work because people make decisions by comparing.

Twenty-eight service area locations are listed on the site, from Kempsey to Nambucca Heads to Stuarts Point. Combined with proper schema markup (LocalBusiness, Service) and a Google Business Profile link, the site is set up to rank for local plumbing searches across the entire Macleay, Hastings, and Nambucca region.

Brand personality

The hero image shows the Kelpie Plumbing van with four actual kelpie dogs in front of it. It’s memorable, it’s local, and it makes the business feel like a real person, not a faceless company. For a sole operator competing against bigger businesses, that personality is an advantage.

The result

Kelpie Plumbing went from invisible online to having a professional website that ranks for plumbing searches in the Kempsey area. The site gives potential customers everything they need to make contact: a phone number they can tap, a quote form they can fill out, and enough information about the business to feel confident they’re hiring a licensed professional.

For a trades business, the website doesn’t need to be complicated. It needs to load fast, show up in Google, display the phone number prominently, and look like a business worth calling. Kelpie Plumbing’s site does all four.

The kelpie branding gives the business a memorable identity that stands out from generic plumbing websites. When someone sees four kelpies in front of a plumbing van, they remember it. That matters in a market where most competitors look the same online.
